Inspiration ~ Decorating with Yellow

 

Daylight Savings Time comes early this year, but I sure will welcome longer, brighter days. This time or year, I love to see yellow indoors; it seems to celebrate the sun's emergence from winter.

Ripe lemons and yellow tulips show promise of the warmer seasons and they are the perfect objects to add natural beauty and a shot of sunshine to rooms awakening in our home.  Walls painted in a favorite shade of yellow can evoke both elegance and cheefulness. 

 

 

March comes in like a lyon and goes out like a lamb, and April showers bring May flowers.  This year, let yellow be the first color to welcome the spring season.

Cheerful Rooms, Yellow Walls

As the dog days of summer are approaching, our tendency is to be surrounded by cool colors.  Blues, greens, and whites evoke water and air, the elements that cool us.  But even in the middle of a heat wave, yellow is cheerful.  It lifts our spirits and brightens our day.

A room with yellow walls project these feelings day and night all year long, and creates a backdrop for both formal and casual living.  Accents of gold or black work well in a yellow room, as do toile and botanical printed fabrics. 

 

Sun streaming through a kitchen window is the quintessential welcome to morning.  The day can feel fresh and new regardless of the time of day in a yellow kitchen right down to the last detail.

Cottage charm is nothing short of chic when the walls are yellow.  Casual and comfortable, a family room could easily host the fun of family game night or the solace of an afternoon nap.

Ah yellow, so cheerful and bright!

Fireplace Mantels for Thanksgiving

 
Thanksgiving week is here, a time to celebrate Mother Nature's harvest and gratitude for abundance.  Our fireplace mantels are aglow and will soon be boasting winter's splendor.  For a few days more, we can feature center stage souvenirs in earth tones.  Warm and welcoming, fireplace mantels reflect the glow in our hearts.
