Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of the summer season and now is the perfect time to ready our porches and sun rooms for those lazy hazy days. Shabby chic furniture, cotton fabrics, shingled walls, and even chandeliers are great elements to include in these special spaces. Add pots of flowers and a cool beverage to serve yourself and your guests. You get the idea, so no more words; these charming photographs speak for themselves!
These spaces are the perfect place to spend some time alone, too. Porches and sun rooms like those pictured here are perfect for reading, writing, or daydreaming. Claim the space and make it your own!

Is there anything that says "fresh air" more than French doors that open onto a lovely outdoor setting? I think not! I love French doors and have never lived in a home that has had them. Yet.
There are a few homes I visit frequently where a sliding glass door leads from a formal room to the garden. I so want to see French doors in place of those sliders!
No screens accompany French windows that are wide open. Just clean air, a bright day, and, if it's this time of year, the promise of spring.
