As the dog days of summer are approaching, our tendency is to be surrounded by cool colors. Blues, greens, and whites evoke water and air, the elements that cool us. But even in the middle of a heat wave, yellow is cheerful. It lifts our spirits and brightens our day.
A room with yellow walls project these feelings day and night all year long, and creates a backdrop for both formal and casual living. Accents of gold or black work well in a yellow room, as do toile and botanical printed fabrics.

Sun streaming through a kitchen window is the quintessential welcome to morning. The day can feel fresh and new regardless of the time of day in a yellow kitchen right down to the last detail.
Ah yellow, so cheerful and bright!

Arleen, I am smitten with the pictures you chose. Creamy yellow is my favorite and my kitchen and entry are painted in that glorious color. What a fun read. As always, just love visiting your blog. Jane T.

I love butter yellow, I did it going up my 3 story foyer. It goes so well with fall type colors when decorating, and I love Fall. Thanks for sharing!

I have yellow walls in my kitchen. :) I think it might a little too yellow though...needs to be toned down just a bit. I love the photos you provided! :) Visiting from Julia's party. :)

I had a great, buttery yellow in our old house, and la la loved it! So cheery and bold. It's high time I painted another yellow room in this new house!
I'm having an Uppercase Living giveaway on my blog. Come on over!
