Timeless Rooms ~ Blue Walls, White Trim

The crisp look of blue walls and white trim makes a statement of contrast.  Whether or not a special technique was used on the blue walls, white trim asserts clean lines of delineation.

Furniture in dark wood tones such as cherry and mahogany are usually chosen for formal rooms such as the dinning room and look right at home all year long when surrounded by blue and white, regardless of the shade of blue. 

And if there is more white wood and trim in a room than blue walls, furniture upholstered in blue balances the composition.  And in some cases, black accents used in just the right amount can compliment a blue and white color combination.

Decorating with Airy Blue and Green

It's summertime and sea breezes help keep coastal communities cool.  Indoors, anyone can enjoy this light and airy palette.  Consider the combination of a favorite shade of blue, soft bright green, and enough white to balance it all.

A bedroom in this color combination is particularly soothing and evokes a good night's sleep.  When sunlight streams through a window to a room of blue and green, it instantly warms the cool colors.

 

Add a few dark accents such as chocolate brown welting, dark wood tones, or black metal to ground the color scheme, to warm up the space.

This color combination could easily be adapted to year-round living.
