Adding Red to Blue and White Decor

Independence Day courts a red, white, and blue color scheme.  The colors of Old Glory appear in flag-themed boasting a proud holiday celebration.  When a room is decorated in blues and white, it's easy to add another accent color and red is no exception.

Cottages flaunting a beach theme flaunt a nautical theme.

And when red is added to great rooms decorated in blue and white, it speak to American roots and heritage.

Red is never shy against a palette of blue and white.  It certainly can hold its own in the smallest of details. 

And even if red is not present, don't be afraid to add it to a blue and white room.  Flowers are the perfect seasonal accessory.

This Independence Day weekend, go ahead and add a little red to a blue and white room and see how very patriotic it feels!

Decorating with Cool Blues and White

One of the most popular color combinations for home decor is blue and white.  Tried and true, it even won a poll over pink and green here a few weeks ago.  Blue and white look great in every room.  Take a look to see if you agree.

Add a third color for accent.  Pink, yellow, red, or green, and you'll never go wrong with blue and white.

Inspirational Photographs ~ Veranda Magazine Covers

The July-August 2009 issue of Veranda arrived in my mailbox today and I had to catch my breath when I saw the cover photograph.  This publication continues to amaze me.  In addition to the quality of the content inside each issue, the starkly plain cover design is refreshing.  A stunning photograph and the magazine's name at the top.  No other print ever appears on the cover.  What a great brand identity.

Last year's garden cover was a photograph of Monet's garden.  I've always loved Monet and learned after I chose him as my favorite all time painter that he and I have the same birthday, November 14.  I love this cover, too.
