It's that time in spring when we begin to think about all the books we want to read during the lazy hazy days of summer. And, if the list is long, we might begin buying those books now. Perhaps there are books we already own that we want to read for the first time or re-read to enjoy the story again.
As one's collection of novels grows it's fun to consider the options for a room that might either be dedicated to or serve double duty as a home library. What colors would you choose for the walls of a room where you would go to choose and perhaps read a favorite book?
A warm yellow in a traditional room would bring sunshine indoors on a dark or rainy day. Similarly (and some of you will love this one!), deep pink would be a first choice for a modern room.

Maybe dark walls to evoke an old-world theme brought up to date by carefully selected detail and accessories is more to your liking.

A wall full of books in a blue and white bedroom suggests reading is restful, leisurely, or healing.

Or maybe a crisp white room wherein only a few accessories add color is the most soothing way to get lost in the pages of a book.

Of course, many summer reads will be lapped up on the beach, in the mountains, or at your favorite vacation site. But if it's too hot outdoors, these rooms are very inviting as is. Choosing the colors for the walls in a home library offers endless options. If you're not certain which to choose, perhaps the jackets of your favorite books as they represent their respective genre, i.e., romance, biography, classic literature, or non-fiction, will help point you in the right direction.

I adore home libraries. I'm always looking for areas in the house to turn into a library. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Hope to see you again soon!

I love them all but the first and last "libraries" are my favorite.

The one with all the spines facing inward is very interesting. (Photo Traditional Home) Not practical but very interesting.
