Furniture in dark wood tones such as cherry and mahogany are usually chosen for formal rooms such as the dinning room and look right at home all year long when surrounded by blue and white, regardless of the shade of blue.

I love that first room with its deep blue walls and crisp white collar and cuffs of painted trim!
Classic and wonderful for a dining room. Darn. I'm thinking I need a change already from my red DR. . . .

Love the last photo! The white paneling against the blue paint color looks really pretty!

Blue and white is always a wonderful combination, whether the blue is light and airy or dark and dramatic.
Love the fireplace mantel and wainscoting and transom window in the first picture. And the chandelier is a real glam piece!!

Lovely, classic blue and white! I love the contrast with the white wainscoating and the classic piecess. Fantastic!

Many years ago I had a lot of blue, then redecorated without any. Now I'm finding myself drawn to it again. The pix you featured are really wonderful and give me further inspiration to bring the color back into my home. Jane T.

I've never used much blue, but it is beautiful in a room - love that middle photo - especially the trim molding.

I don't always like them all but I like all the ones in the post. Thanks.

Those are so gorgeous! Our house has all of the original red oak trim work and doors. I'd hate to paint them white, but you have no idea how bad I want to just for visual effect. lol

I'm a blue and white girl. I love the second room with it's deep, deep blue walls. My offices was that color and I recently made the mistake of painting the walls a rosy beige. The color is very pretty but it's not me. If I ever get to repaint my walls I'll go back to my beloved deep blue.

Beautiful photos - thank you! I love the earthy browns during Autumn. It's the beginning of Spring over here in Australia and the daffodils are all out! Also had a dig around your archives and adored the posts about ottomans. I love ottomans. :)
