In a recent post, I explained how much I love not having any red in my bedroom at Christmastime. I now want to give a little equal time to red since I said it is prominent in the formal rooms of my home during the holiday season. So, in the spirit of Christmas joy, here are a few of my favor-red things!
I bought this huge bird cage on sale a couple of months ago and, since I spent 2 weeks in Virginia last summer where I saw cardinals in their natural habitat, I found a couple of cardinal ornaments to dress up the bird cage.
I have several needlepoint pillows with Christmas themes. These two have a Nutcracker theme and include a toy soldier and a ballerina. I like the red and white candy cane-like striping in the design.
I have often bought white cyclamen for my bedroom, but this year I decided to buy a red cyclamen for my kitchen. I placed it on a beautiful pedestal plate and placed it next to a nutcracker teapot. In the foreground is the largest piece of Fitz and Floyd in my collection. It's a beautiful rendering of Santa in his sleigh. I is the centerpiece for my buffet table every Christmas Eve.
Of all the Christmas red things I own, these two items are my most treasured. The little house with the angels on top is a music box my grandparents gave to my sisters and me when we were little girls. They took the time to put a little tag on each angel; the tags have my sisters' and my name on them.
The framed photograph is of my sons when they were young. I dressed them in red and green sweaters for the photograph and the following year I found this beautiful frame in Christmas plaid. I just love this photograph of my sons and am always thrilled to unwrap it as I'm decorating my home for Christmas.
Red is my sister's favorite color. And when that fact surfaces, she always says, "But just a little." I think she would agree that Christmas is the exception to the just-a-little rule for red.

red is my favorite color- year round. Too much is never enough, lol.
